Tazewell County Public Hearing #2

Tazewell County will hold a public hearing on June 2, 2026 at 6:20 p.m. at 197 Main St, Tazewell, VA 24651 to solicit public input on a proposed Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application to be submitted to the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development for Tazewell County. The project will include the following activities:  The addition of a new leachate tank at the Tazewell County landfill. The purpose of this project is to mitigate environmental and public health risks by improving leachate management and increasing community resilience to future natural disasters. The public hearing will provide an opportunity for residents of Tazewell County to comment on the projects design, potential impacts, and anticipated community benefits. All interested persons are encouraged to attend.

The draft CDBG proposal will be presented for comment along with information on projected beneficiaries, and plans to minimize displacement. Citizens will also be given the opportunity to comment on Tazewell County’s past use of CDBG funds. A fact sheet on the proposed project is available at the Tazewell County office.
